SADP is an American non-profit organization that has been working in Cambodia since 1994. Our primary aim is to reduce poverty while building capacities for self help.
We began work in Cambodia by supporting the organization of savings groups (or “self-help groups”) in one district of Prey Veng province. We helped families build up savings for their own development and helped women become empowered. Over time, we began to expand to other activities and gradually to other provinces.
We now have four main programs:
1. Community organizing program: We support community organizing activities that build social capital, increase participation by women and the poor, and help community members plan and implement their own development activities to improve their standard of living.
2. Education for development program: We help communities and civil society develop analytical skills to better understand development.
3. Student sponsorship program: We develop human resources to build a better society.
4. Organizational development program: We help Cambodian partner NGOs become independent, well-governed and sustainable organizations.
SADP is currently supporting four Cambodian partner NGOs and we are working in nine provinces in Cambodia. Our projects have about 15,000 beneficiaries.
